Turtle Beach, a pioneer in digital audio and gaming headphone technology, today announced the latest addition to its Audio Advantage product line, the Amigo II and Micro II USB audio adapters. Designed for Mac and PC, the Amigo II and Micro II are inexpensive, easy to use and deliver a rich audio experience in a package that’s about the size of a USB memory stick.

The Amigo II USB sound card adds a stereo output and mic input to a Mac or PC. Because it uses a USB digital connection, the Amigo isolates the audio signal from the noisy electronics inside a PC or laptop to provide higher-quality sound. The stereo output can be used for connecting powered speakers, headphones or an external recording device and the microphone input can be used for connecting an external microphone or the boom mic on a headset. This makes Amigo ideal for converting a standard analog headset into is USB headset for voice communications programs such as Ventrilo™ and Skype™.

The Micro II USB sound card adds a stereo line output and an optical digital audio output to a Mac or PC. The stereo output can be used for connecting powered speakers, headphones or an external recording device. The S/PDIF digital optical output connects a notebook or desktop PC to home theater systems, allowing pass through of 5.1 channel Dolby.

MMC and SD:

Flash memory is available in so many formats that it can be difficult to know what will work with any particular device. Devices such as MP3 players, PDAs, mobile phones, digital cameras, and personal computers can take advantage of flash memory to bolster their storage capacity, but selecting the right format may be easier said than done.

To try to address all of the common formats in one article might be quite a read, so we’re doing a two part series on Flash Memory. Part I of the Flash memory series will focus on two similar, very popular and generally interchangeable formats: MMC and SD.

PostHeaderIcon Nalpeiron Announces Security Software and Anti-Piracy Conversion Kits

Nalpeiron Corporation (http://www.nalpeiron.com/) has released security software and an anti-piracy system that converts NAND Flash memory cards into secure keys to control music, video, files, software and other forms of intellectual property.

Nalpeiron’s PRO-Tector Flash™ Software Developer’s Kit enables the secure transmission of files, applications and media, locking the content to the Flash memory stick so that only the holder of the key can read or use the contents.

While other solutions on the market are vendor-specific and rely on encryption, Nalpeiron’s patent pending security software technology converts any standard Flash drive to a security device in a few seconds by running a special utility on the memory card. After conversion, files and applications can be transferred to the memory card or installed onto a PC and will be controlled by a license file securely stored in the Flash memory. The conversion process leaves the card’s storage space and memory intact.

PRO-Tector Flash™ will let content owners, intellectual property creators, service providers and mobile network operators offer consumers security software for safe entertainment, gaming and other content. Through its industry partners, Nalpeiron has already signed contracts with US government departments for the product. It is negotiating further contracts with other government customers, along with Flash memory manufacturers, application vendors and content providers.

Perfect for both USB keys and Flash memory within cell phones, PRO-Tector Flash™ security software is flexible enough to support a broad range of business models. It also contains extra features designed to create revenue-enhancing business opportunities and protect intellectual property. The license file can control content subscriptions offering single-purchase, pay-per-time, demos and pay-per-use models.

The first application of the new security software technology is in replacing old-fashioned security dongles found on software applications. Dongles typically contain just a few kilobytes of memory, whereas Flash™ cards can contain hundreds of megabytes. The high volume production of Flash cards makes them less expensive than proprietary dongle equipment for protecting intellectual property.

“Software vendors looking for ways to reduce piracy often have to turn to antiquated dongles to secure their software,” said Jon Gillespie-Brown, CEO of Nalpeiron. “Now they have an alternative. USB Flash drives have all the benefits of dongles but can be branded, can store the application and associated marketing materials, and can be any shape, color or size.”

PRO-Tector Flash™ security software is totally device agnostic and will run alongside all the existing technologies used to protect content such as Apple’s Fairplay. Nalpeiron has demonstrated the technology on a standard iPod shuffle, enabling music to be played while protecting the contents of the Flash drive and intellectual property interests.

About Nalpeiron Corporation

Nalpeiron is a global software publisher and consultancy with offices in the US and Europe.

Nalpeiron has developed security products for many years and acquired US-based Advanced Software Technologies (AST) in 2003. AST has been developing, supporting and refining copy protection software continuously since 1983.

Nalpeiron started as a software developer and management consultancy but because of poor experiences in using copy protection technologies that lead to major losses in terms of costs, support headaches, software licenses for bad products, bad PR and lost business Nalpeiron decided to develop a range of new technologies to solve these real problems.

Nalpeiron is now a major vendor of unique solutions for software copy protection, digital rights management and electronic software licensing markets with 5 patents pending.

With experience of many competitive copy protection solutions first hand, and their weaknesses, we are in excellent position to advise and assist with the very best security software solution to their intellectual property protection and anti piracy requirements.
