Thumb Drive For When You Lose Your Thumb – USB Stick becomes an Angel
Worl Angel Technology is launching a next-generation USB memory device, called Angel Key, which carries a person’s personal medical history and automatically “snaps open” to the information when plugged into on-board computer systems in ambulances and police cars. There are no device drivers to download for the compact, durable memory device.
“This is more than just a memory stick or thumb drive,” said John Bryant, president and founder of Angel Technology. “It is a device that can greatly accelerate access to key medical information during the golden hour of a life-threatening crisis. In an emergency, every second counts in evaluating the situation and treatment options accurately.”
The innovative use of a thumb drive allows personal medical profiles to be created for an Angel carrier through 14 simple online personal health wizard that captures information about allergies, blood type, etc. The data is then automatically centralized with the Angel Emergency Online Database and duplicated onto the Angel Key. First responders can access the emergency data by simply inserting it into any USB port. Police cars, ambulances and fire trucks in most cities use a PC in their vehicles, enabling rapid access to crucial Angel Key information.
The Angel Key also comes with an optional automated voice response system, which allows first responders to access the emergency information through any cell phone.
Angel carriers can download files such as x-rays, MRI results and their living will to the device, which has a memory capacity of up to 2 gigabytes and runs on both Windows XP/2000 and Apple Macintosh running OS/X. All information is encrypted to protect against unauthorized access.
Angel Powered’s suite of emergency medical information products includes Angel Key, Angel Voice (cell) and Angel Online. All Angel carriers receive six personal data stickers to affix to their driver’s license, cell phone, passport, helmet, tool box, windshield or anywhere else healthcare professionals would see them. In addition, two key ring tabs alert first responders that the victim carries digital information to be used if they are unable to communicate or are confused.
Prices for Angel’s line of products range from $ 39.99 for online access to $ 79.99 for the Angel Key and Voice Access. The information carried on Angel is not part of a global network of pharmaceutical, insurance or other companies’ databases with medical affiliations. It is not shared with clinics, HMOs, hospitals, banks or employers, which puts individuals in charge of their personal health information.
Angel is a product of Angel Technology and is headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas.

New Data Recovery Software Assists Hard Drive Data Recovery
New data recovery software designed to assist with a variety of operations — including hard drive data recovery — can help when disaster strikes. Disk Doctors has launched Digital Media Recovery, a powerful software is designed to retrieve deleted, or corrupted, files from Memory Cards, USB Storage devices and hard drives.
What if you were to accidentally delete the photos and videos from your wedding? What if the memory card with your holiday pictures were to suddenly stop working? Or what if your entire collection of mp3 files were to get wiped out by mistake? And all without a back-up?
“In a digital age when most of us depend on digital media to store our memories, our music, we are prone to situations like those above. That is, sometimes, the stuff nightmares are made of,” said Omer Faiyaz, VP Marketing with Disk Doctors. “Today, most of us believe in just posting picture files onto a Snapfish or a Picasa, instead of printing them out in a time-honored fashion, or storing music on a memory card that can be slotted into a phone for easy listening. And with the convenience come all of those little slips that can lead to information loss. In some cases the loss is trivial, so we are not too inconvenienced. But often the it is extremely important, either personally or professional.”
This application comes packed with advanced features, an easy-to-use interface, and has support for RAW photographic files. A must-have for SOHOs, Corporates and professional photographers.
Features for this version include a fast thumbnail-viewer, enhanced support for RAW formats as well as an option to burn recovered files directly onto CD / DVD media (this last feature depends on the options permitted by your hardware).
For music and video files, the new application is equipped with a specially crafted retrieval engine that can identify each fragment of a lost or deleted mp3 or mpeg (mpg) file; it creates a virtual map to determine the file size that results in a working file, whereas existing retrieval applications recoup only fragments or parts of music and video files.
The currently launched version of the software reclaims lost or deleted pictures, music and video files from Memory Sticks, Flash Cards, Sony Memory Stick, IBM Micro Drive, SD Cards, MMC Cards, XD Cards, Secure Digital Card, Zip Disks and Mini Disks. It comes specially designed with support for all major camera brands – Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Sony & Minolta, among others.
